Most people will not not all that, they will simply want a mobile version of their main site. It comes with the cost of maintaining 2 separate web sites in that case. In your case, you are correct, you need a simple mobile detect and url redirection plugin. For example we just developed a full mobile website for a shopping center and the system you suggest would simply not work as many of the shops want to direct people to their own individual mobile website page. This is the reason we need to make a separate mobile website. Nick WP Touch is a great tool but unfortunately it is what we call a cloner so it does not actually make a mobile website and just clones the wordpress site Lots of customers will want to use QR Codes or other marketing techniques to redirect to specific pages on the mobile website. We have been using Artisteer for the last year to create a nuber of Mobile Websites for our clients. I agree It would be awesome to be able to create mobile themes, for all the various CMS' which Artisteer currently supports. In the meantime, I've switched to *always* manually creating my own header and menu (even for the desktop version) and switching all the font sizes from px to rem (relative em units) in order to avoid resizing issues with different pixel depths.And recreating all Artisteer-generated graphics in SVG format to better accommodate retina displays. I have found it relatively easy to turn a standard Artisteer template into one that is responsive/mobile by following these principles. This thread has some good tips on how to do it.
